Teresa Robison draws inspiration for painting from a background rich in educational and natural resources.  She grew up in Oklahoma, the daughter of two teachers and one of three children, where she spent a good deal of time in the country playing and working on her Dad’s farm.  The experiences she had growing up in rural Oklahoma gave her a great appreciation for the vivid sunset colors, the warm golden colors of uncut wheat in summer, the burnt reds and oranges of the soils, and all the colors and textures of nature.  After graduating from college, she and her husband moved to Memphis where she has lived since.  Living in Oklahoma and the Mid-South where there is so much color and beauty in the landscape greatly influenced her work as a painter.
Teresa began painting as a teenager under the instruction of Richard Goetz, an oil painter working in Oklahoma City.  The two years she spent under Goetz’s instruction gave her an invaluable foundation and love for painting and for art.  She continued her art education at Oklahoma State University while earning a Bachelors Degree in Social Science.  Though she didn’t make a career of painting until her children were almost grown, she always held onto her dream of becoming a full time artist.  Now she paints fulltime and focuses on what she would like to accomplish as an artist.
Having painted many different subjects and experimenting with different styles of painting, Teresa gradually narrowed her focus to landscape painting.    She paints in both oils and acrylics, though her current work is primarily in acrylic.  Recently she tried her hand at painting abstracts and discovered an exciting  new interest in it.  She says her experience in landscape painting was very good preparation for her work in abstract painting.
Teresa’s paintings are rich in texture and color, with special attention to design and an overall harmony of elements.  She often plans her paintings with pastels or pencils and a sketch book and then goes to the canvas with the idea on paper.  Other times, the idea is firmly in her mind and she starts right in on the canvas or sometimes she will simply paint intuitively.  Regardless of how she begins, design and color will always be the most important aspects of her paintings.
Teresa is an artist who feels it’s important to continue to learn in order to improve as an artist.  She will in her word’s “always be a student of art.”

I currently live in Olive Branch, Mississippi with my husband, Stephen and two children. I graduated from Union University in Jackson, TN with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art. I love to paint. It is my passion. My goal as an artist is to create art that touches another human being and changes them for the better. I have been told that there is a sense of "amorous longing" in my work, perhaps it is evident that I am a hopeless romantic at heart. I want my work to stir in the viewer this deep longing in our souls for a love that moves us and captivates us so. It is this specific love that we are longing for that can only be found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Beauty. I have wondered what "true beauty" really is. One can be "physically" beautiful, but one can also have a beautiful "character".  Which one has more power? Which one inspires more, influences more, and changes one for the better? The beautiful character, obviously. This truth has changed the way I approach my art.  I want my work to engage the viewer and make them think. I set out to create paintings that would convey a beautiful concept or powerful idea, not just a beautiful image.
