Born in beautiful Minneapolis, MN, in 1968 - Michael has been involved in the art and custom framing industry for 27 years.
What started as a means for his mother to keep him out of trouble would become a career for Mike. In 1983, he began work at her frame shop in Minneapolis as the garbage boy and floor sweeper but soon convinced her to show him how to build a frame. Three years later and by the age of eighteen, Mike had become a manager for Old America Store Corp running their frame shop in nearby Brooklyn Park. For the next two years he managed shops for Creative Leisure Inc. in Minneapolis and Chicago.
In 1988 Mike moved to Florida to work with Roger Gregory at his gallery in Naples where he regarded Roger as a mentor. Mike would later model his own gallery after Roger’s. In 1992 Mike relocated to Memphis to complete his degree in music while simultaneously working full time at Deck The Walls frame shop in The Mall of Memphis. Post graduation, Mike managed BA Framer stores throughout the greater Memphis area.
Mike earned his BM in Commercial Music from The University Of Memphis and spent many years as a professional musician. He created Tadporters in 1999 from scratch using the nickname given to him by his former band mates. He is a pilot and flies Cessna’s and other small aircraft with his wife, Heather, who is also a pilot.
They have a daughter, Kate Frances.
